SCHOOLS IN AIRAI STATE

 

 

There are three schools located in Airai State: Airai Olbedekall Head Start (Preschool), Airai Elementary School (Primary School), and the Palau Mission Academy (High School). 

                                                                               

Airai Elementary School

Airai Elementary School (AES) teaches students in grades one to eight since around the 1960's.  The general annual students enrollment of the school is mostly less than about two hundred (200) students.  The school is facilitated with dedicated and skilled faculty, improved and advanced educational resources, and classrooms standard curriculum to provide and benefit  primary school aged children with the essential fundamental learning skills.  The programs and curriculum of the school is being implemented through development plans and incentives of Education Service System by the National Ministry of Education.

Olbedekall Head Start

Olbedekall Head Start is located adjacent to the Airai Elementary School and teaches children from 3 to 5 years of age with three divisions of classrooms based on children ages group.  In general, the enrollment of Olbedekall Head Start reaches not more than about sixty pupils annually.  The Head Start Educational Programs and Services are planned, organized, and implemented by the Palau Community Action Agency (PCAA), a semi-governmental agency that provide services to promotes family and community's health & welfare and early childhood education.

Palau Mission Academy

Ngerikiil, Airai State

Established since 1965

Most high school students in Airai attend Palau High School (Public School), which is located in Koror, but one of Palau's private high schools, the Palau Mission Academy, is located in Airai State.  Palau Mission Academy is a Seventh-Day Adventist School, which was initially established in the 1960's as a co-ed boarding school to locals and foreign students until mid 1990's.  Today, P.M.A. continues to function as a boarding school but only to foreign or exchange students while the local students attend the school and reside at home.
