The Department
of Health & Sanitation and Beautification is generally responsible for
developing and implementing programs to secure, maintain, and
promote the
health standards of people and the environment of Airai State. An
existing state law (ASPL No.A-2-22-96) requires all persons to
regularly maintain and comply with a sanitary and clean condition
their land areas and also designating August as the month for clean up and beautification
period of
Airai State. Based on this existing law, the Department of Health &
Sanitation and Beautification annually (in August) conducts
Sanitation Inspections to every household of Airai State to ensure
that the environmental health and people’s well-being are
protected and complied.
The programs and projects of the Department of Health and Sanitation
and Agriculture are planned, organized and implemented by the
Department's Coordinator, Mr. Jack Masters.
An additional
and newly introduced incentive programs related to
agriculture development projects have
recently been included, developed, and promoted by this department.
Developments of agriculture programs
such as the Plants Nursery and Community Training and also Awareness
& Practical Programs in
Agricultural Development and Skills Enrichment have been focused and
implemented to support the economic and commercial sustainability of
local foods production and consumption to benefit the people in Airai.
